a small brunswick garden for michelle

This bungalow on a small lot left only narrow spaces to the rear and side of the house. The principal design move was to push the timber deck to the boundary, against the residual garage walls that now frame the deck.

Crossing the pond to reach the deck lends depth to the small space while the earthy black and red colour palette, used in the rendered walls and paving, and the relatively spare planting lend a Japanese feel to the landscape.
