services

garden design and consultation

Garden consultation and landscape design services in Sydney and Melbourne.

You may require advice on your existing garden and some ideas to improve it.

Or a detailed landscape concept plan that defines spaces, levels, transitions and the landscape character of your garden; or a simpler site assessment and planting layout.

Or a more comprehensive design service.

Services are tailored to the scale, scope and complexity of your project.

I like to start with a meeting to understand your brief and the site’s potential. A no-charge, no-obligation informal discussion to establish our compatibility and agree on the scope of your project.

process

    • a no obligation/no charge consultation to gain an understanding of your site and your needs; to confirm our compatibility

    • the discussion to establish your brief, budget and expectations, and the service that you require

  • a proposal outlining the design (or advice) scope and any other aspect of the project that you have asked to be included, with related proposed fees

    • suitable for minor changes and improvements, diagnosis of specific problems, or where clients require direction or guidance

    • tailored to your site and preferences

    • plant selection and planting schemes or approach

    • soil health and amelioration

    • weeds and pests

    • hard landscaping (materials, paving, retaining and shade structures, drainage)

    • sourcing plants, containers, garden furniture

    • landscape concept plan: site plan illustrating the spatial layout and quality, the look and feel of the garden, its key components and finishes, uses and functions

    • planting plan - planting theme and structure and layout, plant species, number, size and locations

    • following an initial meeting and confirmation of the design brief and fee proposal, preparation of landscape concept plans and all related construction drawings that may be required to build the project

    • assistance with contractors – seeking and reviewing quotations – and supervision of construction to ensure construction quality and an outcome faithful to the design intent
