The first stage, the rear garden, included a stone paved central patio beneath an existing Jacaranda tree. A series of landscape elements spatially divide this immersive garden: a full width paved ledge borders a planted swale adjacent to the house, large format pavers that step through the landscape and low timber and masonry walls that centrally divide the garden composition.

In the next phase the stone paving and planting was extended along the eastern side of the house which created landscape views from the facing bedroom and bathrooms.

Finally, the front garden was remade and radially sawn hardwood timber fencing and screening added to ensure privacy on the boundaries.

A new pergola with a mixture of open battens and transparent roofing replaced a dilapidated verandah. The structure supports deciduous vines and allows northern winter light into the front rooms of the house.
